Its that time of the year again. Janadriyah Festival is here! The annual two week National Cultural and Heritage Festival will start on Wednesday, April 13th, 2011, and end on Friday, April 29th, 2011.
The festival is a great way for Saudi’s and others to step into the past and truly experience life in Saudi Arabia as it was before. This is one of the most hands on way you can learn about the traditions and culture of Saudi Arabia and how they differ slightly from region to region. You will find folk songs and dancing, camel races, poetry, art, theatre, cultural exhibits, demonstrations such as weaving and of course yummy food.
Janadriyah is a great way to see the differences between life before and life since the discovery of oil. It will be interesting to see the social changes from the ways of before and what is considered normal today. It will certainly be a learning experience and a whole lot of fun!
I’ve made plans to travel to Riyadh to check out the Festival. It will be my first trip to Riyadh and I am extremely excited to attend the Festival and to check out what else Riyadh has to offer.
I hope to see you there.
